Frank Bey is a strong & soulful singer who has traveled the route from gospel to blues over the past few decades.....His intial release on Blue Dot was a collection of live performances that captured the chemistry between Bey & bandleader Anthony Paule (Johnny Nocturne Band) and was a favorite here at Bluebeatmusic. This new set of studio recordings was recorded at Kid Andersen's studio and features a collection of mostly original recordings with a strong southern soul feel. The addition of talented bay area horn players Nancy Wright & Mike Rinta adds a soulful cushion to the well written songs and Bey always delivers a confident reading of them.....Covers of Wynonie Harris & John Prine sit well with the originals and add a little spice to the proceedings...........
