Memphis soul group The BO-KEYS team up with vocalist PERCY WIGGINS to bring you a shot of Memphis Soul and R&B. PERCY WIGGINS, who cut classic Northern Soul sides in the 60s for ATCO and RCA, is featured on three original songs penned by the BO-KEYS and WIGGINS. The Bobby Blue Bland inspired, R&B of WRITING ON THE WALL , the Southern Soul ballad, IM STILL IN NEED and the up-tempo, funky cut I NEED MORE THAN ONE LIFETIME. THE BO-KEYS join with legendary vocalists SPENCER WIGGINS & PERCY WIGGINS for a deep soul rendition of the DAN PENN & CHIPS MOMAN classic hit, THE DARK END OF THE STREET. Versions by Cat Power, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Ryan Adams, and in the film The Commitments have kept it in the public eye....
Also featured are a funky, SHAFT-era ISAAC HAYES inspired take on the Ennio Morricone cult Western film theme - THE GOOD THE BAD & THE UGLY and WIND UP MONKEY which sounds like a lost, funky instrumental cut from STAX or DUKE/PEACOCK. The Bo-Keys are a Memphis Soul group featuring legendary Stax/Volt and Hi Records session players. The Bo-Keys performed the original score for Hustle & Flow, and appear in the film Soul Men, performing on-screen with stars Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac. They also appear on three songs for the film's soundtrack. In 2010 The Bo-Keys were featured on Cyndi Lauper's Grammy-nominated Memphis Blues album. The band s last release Got to Get Back! has been featured on NPR, the BBC, the Wall Street Journal and USA Today. Vocalist Percy Wiggins cut sides in the 60s for RCA and ATCO with a band which included Billy Cox and Larry Lee who later went on to become members of Jimi Hendrix s Band of Gypsies.........
