Carol Fran, one of the many Gulf Coast girls of the 50's & 60's, worked shows for Guitar Slim, Billy Wright & Gatemouth Brown in the 50's among many others. Her early recordings for EXCELLO straddle the line between swamp blues & contemporary pop while this recording from 1992 is a straight blues program. Her husband guitar player, Clarence Hollimon featured in the studio band at DUKE records and can be heard on many Bobby Bland recordings from the 1950's as well as countless others for the different Don Roby's labels. This recording features Clarence tearing up his guitar masterpiece GRISTLE as well as adding the right touch to Carol's vocals.
