WOW! Just when I had all but given up on the rock infused "contemporary" blues releases, along comes a cd from Louisiana native DK HARRELL that floors me. Confident, contemporary and reflective of the historical roots of the genre, this release has all original songs and an amazing fluid sound that shows a deeper understanding of the spirit of blues than the current crop of blues artists. Featuring Jerry Jemmott (Aretha Franklin- Ray Charles- Freddie King), Kid Andersen (who produced it) & Tony Coleman (whose father was an emcee at the Apollo theatre in the 60's) the sound is reminiscent of early 70's BB KING without copying the style......needless to say, highly recommened!!
