This is the first dedicated CD collection of recordings by Linda Hayes who scored R&B chart hits, with Yes I Know reaching no. 2 early in 1953, an answer-disc to Willie Mabon s chart-topping I Don t Know of a year earlier, and Take Me Back a top 10 hit in January 1954, both rich vibrant vocals influenced by Billie Holiday and Dinah Washington, supported by energetic jump-blues combos including the Red Callender Band. Hayes also recorded one session with Johnny Moore s Three Blazers, included herein. Linda Hayes was born Bertha Williams, and is the sister of the great Platters lead singer Tony Williams. In fact Linda was the first Dish with the group, and introduced her brother to them, also recording on their first session for Federal, from which My Name Ain t Annie is included here.............. 1.
