This is the successor to the two volumes of King's Serious Soul.......The scope of the CD has been widened beyond the Southern states and there is some excellent music that could not have been included in the previous two volumes......Ricky Lyons, June Sims and Lee Holland were only one-shot artists but really cut the mustard. Toni Williams' 45 is a little-known southern masterpiece, as is the lushly produced Bobby Wade's Blind Over You. Bigger acts such as Earl Gaines, the Bobbettes and Pat Lundy sing lesser-known but terrific soul track..... For those with a gospel bent, Christine Kittrell's Ain't Ever Seen So Much Rain Before is a tour de force. The sound quality is immaculate with all tracks taken from the original master tapes.......
