This quintessential release presents K-Doe's complete debut album, and one of the finest lost treasures of New Orleans R&B,Mother-in-Law, originally released by the local Minit label in 1962, and long unavailable on any format. It was only the second long-playing album from Minit (the label's first LP was a compilation of various artists, titled Home of the Blues). The songs were produced and arranged in different sessions by Allen Toussaint, which provided his usual style and the right combination of rolling rhythms, pianos, horns, warm vocals… and mellow funk as well. Aside from it's celebrated title track, other highlights include “Te-Ta-Te-Ta-Ta,” “Make You Love Me,” “Tain't It the Truth,” “Wanted $10,000.00 Reward,” and the gospel-soaked "There's A Will, There's A Way."
