Description
A nice compilation of early work by one of the myriad of stand-up vocal groups that helped make the early '70s an era of vocal harmony renaissance. The title track, of course, is the draw, and it remains one of the classics of early '70s soul (and certainly the only one sung from the perspective of a guy in a hospital bed because his girlfriend had tried to maim him). Fortunately, the follow-up--"Love Gonna Pack Up (And Walk Out)--is very nearly as good, and throughout the album the combination of Douglas "Smokey" Scott's impassioned lead vocals, the group's sweet harmonies, and vintage period arrangements (lots of strings, xylophone and wacka-wacka guitar) is never less than entertaining. 1. Thin Line Between Love And Hate 2. Let's Get Down Together 3. Blood Brothers 4. You Musta Put Something In Your Love 5. Thanks For Loving Me 6. Bad Bold And Beautiful Girls 7. Love Gonna Pack Up (And Walk Out) 8. If This Is What You Call Love (I Don't Want No Part Of It) 9. Mr. Sunshine 10. Thigh Spy 11. Can't Go No Further And Do No Better 12. Peace In The Valley Of Love
