All blues definitions are arbitrary at best but ˜East Coast Blues is the vaguest of them all. You can get a handle on Texas blues or Mississippi blues but the eastern seaboard of America, from Florida to New York, is more than a thirteen hundred miles long and encompassed any number of individual styles when the recording industry first took an interest in blues music. Post World War II, as the artists gathered here demonstrate, a strong current of aggressively fingerpicked blues continued to crop up in the commercial sphere.
