Ref-O-Ree Records was formed in 1968 by legendary song-writer/producer Ted Jarratt. Ted discovered a gifted young arranger named Bob Holmes and they decided that Ref-O-Ree Records would be the outlet for their new and very creative productions. Their first release was by The Avons, a local girl group that were featured regularly on the television show The Night Train . Their next release was by a young R&B singer named Freddie Waters, who had recorded as a member of The Hy-Tones. Larry Birdsong, Gene Allison and Roscoe Shelton were all well known recording artists.
