Description
Freddie Roulette was one of the most creative & underappreciated artists to emerge from 1960's Chicago. Raised in Evanston Illinois, Freddie hooked up with Earl Hooker in the mid 1960's and recorded with him on Hooker's classic CUCA label recordings. His wild lap steel underpinnings to Hooker's creative guitar playing made these recordings some of the best of their careers. Freddie later recorded with Charlie Musselwhite on the wonderful CHICAGO BLUE STARS release from 1968 that featured the ACES as the back up band & is one release that is worthy of reissue today.. SWEET FUNKY STEEL came out in 1973 and features a mixture of blues, soul & jazz and features Sugarcane Harris (from DON & DEWEY and FRANK ZAPPA) as well.
