This is the first ever compilation of the rich legacy of Johnny Heartsman and his contributions to Bay Area Blues, R&B and Soul of the 60's. This 26 track compilation has all of Heartsman's recordings under his own name as well as many of the fine singers he produced and played with during the late 50's & 1960's. Highlights include the gospel drenched ''My Time After Awhile'' by Tiny Powell and Joe Simon's first recordings with the beautiful guitar of Heartsman featured in the backround. Johnny Heartsman always had a soulful, slinky quality to his playing and when you hear all of these sides together you hear the distinct style he brought to the recording studio...whether it was his own recordings or someone elses. All but three sides were produced by Heartsman, with the scorching ''Get Back'' by Heartsman disciple Eugene Blacknell wrapping up the proceedings. This is a classy set of seldom heard California classics by an artist whose work has never been fully appreciated. None of these recordings have ever been on cd before........
