The Caribou label featured Jamaican recorded Mento mixed with other music styles from around the Caribbean Gulf, including R&B, Cha Cha, Rumba and Meringue. These tracks mark the birth of an Urban Jamaican musical style and featured well known Mento artists such as Lord Tanomo, Count Lasher & Count Sticky as well as Laurel Aitken, whose blending of mento with Jamaican Gospel and US R&B created a whole new style of Jamaican music:.
