This collector's edition assembles 29 tracks from 1956 to 1957. If you're not familiar with Louis Jordan's music, this is the best place to start. These tracks sound better and more modern than Jordan's swinging period earlier recordings. The sassy horns and spicy drums are lively and very infectious, showing Louis Jordan at his very best. It is enduring music: exciting rock & roll, early R&B and some jazz standards under the musical direction of a young Quincy Jones with accompaniment by such fabulous musicians as Jimmy Cleveland, Sam "The Man" Taylor, Budd Johnson, Ernie Hayes and Mickey Baker, among others.
Recorded in New York City, between 1956 and 1957. Original recordings produced and arranged by Quincy Jones.
