Clarence was a major influence in the east Texas/ West Louisiana music scene of the late 40's with stints with Clifton Chenier as well as hosting one of the regions first R&B radio shows "The Bon Ton Show out of Beaumont Texas. Garlows guitar playing was a crude approximation of the sophisticated styles of T-Bone Walker & Gatemouth Brown, but his songs retained a unique South Louisiana flavor that Gate & T-Bone never touched. Garlow's recording of "Bon Ton Roulet" has been covered by countless artists since it's first release in 1949 and is associated with the afro-cuban sounds of New Orleans, even though it originated in Beaumont Texas. 24 tracks of vintage R&B by a forgotten player from the gulf coast. 1.Bon Ton Roula 2.
